THE CONCEPT OF TIME AND MEMORY / BA / SS21 / Lotte Schönfeld

Melting wax seamlessly layers and surrounds itself as it drips and flows. Its generosity of organic shape and surface translate into garments which leave their original frame and renegotiate boundaries. They become an extension of the body, perform a symbiosis and adapt to its lines. The garment gapes and reveals the body underneath. The idea of ​​embossing is a direct translation of making something your own. The technique is used to create leather flowers to adorn the garment and beyond its limits also the body. Experiments with knitwear lead to communicate a certain connection with the body. Materials such as denim and leather are important because their fading over time and their patina are symbols of lived memory.
