EKMA / MA / SS17
EKMA (abbreviation for Ektoplasma) is a joint collection between textile and fashion design. A source of inspiration were the descriptions and photographs of so-called materialization phenomena by the parapsychologist Albert von Schrenck-Notzing. He organized séances with mediums and documented the escape of ectoplasm from the medium’s bodies. The ectoplasm undergoes a stage in which it resembles fine veils of chiffon. It is often characterized by the terms fog-like, fluid and solid. Through textile manipulation, the outfits received new haptic and visual properties. A play with simple and opulent silhouettes, milky-translucent layers, moiré effects, flowing surfaces
